<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image coding method and an image coding apparatus with which accuracy of inter-prediction is enhanced. <P>SOLUTION: When a coded picture is an I picture or a P picture, both of reference lists (List 0) and (List 1) are updated, and when the coded picture is a B picture, only the reference list (List 1) is updated so that no B picture is added to the reference list (List 0) used for P pictures and the B pictures are added to the reference list (List 1) used by only the B pictures so as to increase the number of pictures being inter-prediction objects when the B pictures are coded thereby enhancing the inter-prediction accuracy. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
