PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine which can exhibit a sufficient washing performance when the volume of washing exceeding a rated capacity is thrown into a tub and has a control capable of preventing the washing from causing the game machine to fail. SOLUTION: The washing machine 1 comprises a capacity sensing means 90 to sense the volume of washing in the washing tub 30, a capacity judgment means 82 to judge whether the volume of the washing sensed by the capacity sensing means 90 exceeds the rated capacity, and a water flow setting means 83 to make a water flow in a washing process lower than a water flow set when the volume of washing is the rated capacity and to make the time of a washing process shorter than the time set when the volume of washing exceeds the rated capacity by the capacity judgment means 82.
