PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoder unit capable of installing easily related encoders in variety of constitution, or a device for releasing and aligning the encoder. SOLUTION: This encoder unit includes a releasing and aligning device including a hub 4 arrayed in a housing 10 to hold an encoder disk, and rotated within the housing 10, and a slide 51 held by the housing 10, and movable between the first position and the second position. The slide 51 in the first position is arrayed to advance pushingly the hub 4 to prescribed axial-directional and radial-directional positions, to one part of the housing 10, and the slide 51 in the second position is arrayed to allow axial-directional and radial-directional motions of the hub 4. The slide 51 is arrayed in an axial direction side of the housing 10 opposite to the axial direction side, and the housing 10 is attached to a measured device in the axial direction side.
