PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which prevents the upthrust of an end and a waviness phenomenon from being caused by a change in the moisture content of a wood flooring material and which enables construction to be easily performed by using the flooring material generating few squeaks, and a floor structure. SOLUTION: In the wood flooring material, an end surface to be joined has a tongue or a groove for a tongue and groove joint. In the method, a gap adjusting material 2, which can be easily stripped off by pulling, is prestuck on either of an upper end surface of the tongue and that of the groove; and after the construction of the flooring material 1, the material 2 is removed. In the floor structure, the predetermined gap is formed between joining surfaces of the upper end surface of the tongue and that of the groove, which join the flooring materials 1 together, and an elastic body 5 for absorbing the elongation of the flooring material 1 is provided. In the wood flooring material, the end surface to be joined has the tongue or the groove for the tongue and groove joint. In the construction method for the flooring material, the gap adjusting material is prestuck on either of the upper end surface of the tongue and that of the groove; and after the construction of the flooring material, the gap adjusting material is removed.
