An LED(Light Emitting Diode) die apparatus and a surface illuminating method are provided to increase the amount of light reaching a light pipe, thereby improving the light collecting efficiency, by using a substrate having a reflective surface. A light source includes a plurality of LED dies arranged in an array along a first direction. Each of the LED dies emits a light in a second direction. A light pipe(73) includes a transparent material layer having an upper surface(74), a bottom surface(75), and an edge surface. A reflective plate reflects the light from the LED dies, which move in the second direction, into the edge surface of the light pipe, thereby reflecting a portion of the light by the upper surface and the bottom surface of the reflective plate. |
