Means for conducting a ballot in which at least one vote is cast by a voting input device, includes apparatus comprising means for receiving voting preference data for the or each vote eg in the case of split votes; means for receiving a voting input from a voting input device; and means for recording votes in the ballot, adapted to record the or each vote in accordance with the voting preference data in response to receiving a voting input confirming that the voting preference data is to be used. The invention finds particular application in the field of large scale ballots, such as votes conducted at Annual General Meetings (AGMs), where many voters may cast different votes differently on different motions. Voting preferences may be recorded in advance of the actual vote, thus simplifying and expediting the vote. Voters may be authenticated by means of a smart card and/or unique identifier. |
