A steam generator of a drum-type washing machine having a pressure sensor and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the structure from being injured due to excessively high vapor pressure or water pressure in the steam generator. A steam generator(50) of a drum-type washing machine comprises: a housing(80) formed by combining an upper housing(82) with a lower housing(81); a water level sensor(60) installed at the steam generator housing to measure water level in the steam generator; a heater installed in the steam generator housing to heat the supplied water; and a pressure sensor(100) installed at the inner side of the upper housing to measure pressure in the steam generator.
