An apparatus and a method for controlling a step motor are provided to reduce the time to generate a motion profile by using the motion profile stored at a memory unit in case of receiving the same type motion profile from a host device. In a step motor controlling apparatus, a memory unit(211) stores at least one unit motion profile which defines a basic motion of a step motor(230). A receiving unit(212) receives information about the motion profile of the step motor(230) to be driven. A combination unit(213) generates and outputs the motion profile relating to the received information about the motion profile by combining the unit motion profile stored at the memory unit(211). And, a motor driving unit(214) drives the step motor(230) on the basis of the generated motion profile. |
