Provided is an aqueous pigment dispersion having the improved freezing-thawing stability, which causes no compression of pigment particles even when ice crystals grow upon freezing and pressurize the pigment particles, and prevents a dispersant or self-dispersible pigment particles from entanglement between hydrophilic groups. The aqueous pigment dispersion comprises pigment particles, a dispersant and water, and further comprises 0.1-20 parts by weight of an aminoalcohol compound based on the dispersant. In a variant, the aqueous pigment dispersion comprises self-dispersible pigment particles and water, and further comprises 0.1-10 parts by weight of an aminoalcohol compound based on the pigment particles.
