A mobile communication terminal with a sound mode automation setup function and an operating method thereof are provided to analyze features of music to be played before the music is played and to decide on a genre of the music according to the analyzed features of the music, thereby automatically setting a sound mode. A memory(10) stores music data and sound mode setup data. A controller(30) decides on a genre of music, and plays the music by automatically setting a sound mode in accordance with the music genre. The memory(10) comprises as follows. A music data unit(11) stores the music data. A sound mode data unit(12) stores data for deciding on the genre and the sound mode setup data in accordance with the genre.
