A broadcasting receiving apparatus and a method for improving channel converting speed are provided to improve the channel converting speed by controlling the tuner not to stabilize AGC(Automatic Gain Control) when a low noise amplifier is not used. A low noise amplifier(201) low-noise-amplifies and outputs a broadcasting signal. A tuner(203) receives the outputted broadcasting signal and selects a channel. The tuner(203) transmits an AGC signal of the broadcasting signal regarding the selected channel and stabilizes AGC. A controller(205) receives the transmitted AGC signal and controls the gain of the low noise amplifier(201) based on the AGC signal. The controller(205) controls whether the tuner(203) stabilizes AGC correspondingly to on/off control signals.
