A plasma display device and a control method thereof are provided to simply select and process the size of image data by a switch without producing a new board. A plasma display device for processing and displaying image data input by a unit of N bits includes an image processing unit(600) for signal-processing the image data input from the outside and encoding and outputting the signal; a switch unit(700) for outputting only the bits selected by a user, in the whole range of the N bits input from the image processing unit; and a logic control unit(200) for decoding the image data input from the switch unit, and generating and outputting each driving signal.
