PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing material for a battery, not only excellent in a sealing property, an anti-piercing property, insulation, heat and cold resistance, corrosion resistance or the like, but also capable of obtaining an excellent slip property without using a slipping agent, and as a result, excellent in molding stability at press molding and stability of laminating strength. SOLUTION: In the packing material for a battery with at least a base material layer, an aluminum foil, a chemical treatment layer, an adhesive layer, and a thermal bonding resin layer laminated in turn, a center-line surface roughness (Ra) of a front surface of the thermal bonding resin layer is 60 nm to 1,000 nm.
