PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the wear properties of a sliding alloy for high temperature use in which hard particles composed of a Co-based intermetallic compound are dispersed into a matrix composed of an Ni-based alloy or an Fe-based alloy. SOLUTION: The content of hard particles is controlled to 1 to 35% by mass ratio to the whole of a sliding alloy for high temperature use, and the occupancy ratio of the hard particles with the particle diameter of 45 to 65μm to the whole of the hard particles is controlled to≥20% by mass. When the particle diameter is small, in the case of being exposed to high temperature (ordinary, about 1,200°C) upon sintering, the hard particles are softened by the mutual diffusion with the matrix, so as to cause deterioration in its wear resistance. Further, when the hard particle diameter is large, the hard particles are made hard to be uniformly dispersed into the matrix and are also made easy to fall-off, so as to increase the abrasion loss thereof. But, when the occupancy ratio of the hard particles with the particle diameter of 45 to 65μm to the whole of the hard particles is≥20% by mass, even if there are conditions of the softening in the hard particles with a size smaller than the same and the difficulty in the uniform dispersibility of the hard particles with a size larger than the same, consequently, the abrasion loss thereof is reduced, so as to improve its friction properties.
