PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of easily setting a projection image on a screen to a predetermined size. SOLUTION: The projector 4 is provided with: an interface section 461 that obtains image information and size setting information; a focusing-state detecting section 441 that detects a focusing state; a zoom-state detecting section 442 that detects a zoom state; a storage section 466 that stores design information for enabling specification of a zoom state in which when the focusing state is positioned in the focusing position where a projection image is focused, the projection image generated on the screen Sc is turned into a specific design size; a zoom-state determination section 465 which determines the zoom state for turning the projection image into the specific size based on the size setting information, on the basis of the detected focusing state, the size setting information and the design information; and a zoom adjustment control section 464 that brings the zoom state into the determined zoom state determined by the zoom-state determination section 465.
