PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a service aspect which is attractive for a user who downloads musical piece data, while improving the convenience of the user in downloading the musical piece data. SOLUTION: In a musical piece data distribution system, since a portable telephone set MP-k is set so as to download musical piece data automatically at the wake-up time and bedtime of the user, musical pieces corresponding to the musical pieces, downloaded by the function of the musical piece data distribution system, are amplified into sound as (a) an alarm sound for wake-up or (b) music (that is, a nursery song) which is to be listened by user at bedtime. Moreover, in downloading such musical piece data, the services which are attractive for the user is provided by selecting musical piece data to be distributed, while considering elements, such as (1) the taste of the user (for example, genre and artists of favorite musical pieces of the user), (2) the use of the musical piece data (more specifically, whether the musical piece data is to be used as an alarm in rising or a nursery song at bedtime), and (3) the date and the time of the downloading.
