PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring selective splicing variant of mRNA of a new human SDHC in test samples, a new nucleic acid used for the same and a means for carrying out the method. SOLUTION: The method for measuring selective splicing variants of mRNA of SDHC constituting gene in test samples includes measurement of (1) a selective splicing variant of mitochondrial cytochrome b large subunit constitutive gene (SDHC) deleted of exon 2 and exon 3, (2) a selective splicing variant of human SDHC deleted of exon 3 and (3) a selective splicing variant of human SDHC deleted of exon 5 by discriminating from normal mRNA.
