A vacuum cleaner is provided to improve filtering efficiency by doubly filtrating foreign matters in the air with cyclone method, and to enhance the appearance of the vacuum cleaner by restricting a dust collecting handle from being protruded up. A vacuum cleaner includes a body(100) embedding parts, a dust collecting unit installed in the body to doubly filtrate foreign matters from air and detachably combined with an upper part of the body, a motor assembly(140) installed in the body to generate rotational power by receiving power, a cord reel assembly installed at a side of the motor assembly to wind and store a power cord, and a suction nozzle spaced from the body and moved in the proximity of a floor to guide suction of air and foreign maters. An upper part of the dust collecting unit is arranged in a line with an upper part of the body. The dust collecting unit has a dust collecting bin for filtering foreign matters in the air and storing foreign matters, an upper cover for closing an upper part of the dust collecting bin, and a lower cover for closing a lower part of the dust collecting bin.
