PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor improved in the deterioration of brightness and exhibiting good chromatic characteristics. SOLUTION: This phosphor is provided by substituting a part or the whole of Mg of the phosphor expressed by the formula: KMgAl<SB>x</SB>O<SB>17</SB>:Mn (wherein, K is at least one kind of an element selected from Ba, Sr, Ca) with Zn.
