PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the occurrence of precipitates caused by hydrolysis when a surface treatment agent is diluted with water by shortening the manufacturing process of the borate-based wood surface treatment agent. SOLUTION: Glycerin and a trace amount saccharide alcohol is added to a borate and an alkylene glycol which are the major raw materials for the surface treatment agent.
