<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat management system for easily and accurately realizing the name confirmation of a attendant in a seminar, event or lecture or the like, the indviduals confirmation of an examiness or the like and the grasp of the presence circumstances of an employee in an office or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The attendant places the reader/writer 7 of a portable terminal 4 near the IC tag 6 of each seat when taking a seat, or reads the ID of the IC tag 6 by holding it up (step 101). Then, the ID of the portable terminal 4 is added to the read ID of the IC tag 6, and transmitted to a server 2 (step 102). Then, personal information of the attendant is read from a database 5 by using the ID of a portable terminal 4 received by a server 2 as a key (step 103). Then, the read personal information of the attendant and the seat number obtained from the ID of the IC tag 6 are associated with each other so that a seat table can be prepared (step 104). Then, the prepared seat table is downloaded to a PC terminal 3 installed on the platform (step 105).
