PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance temporary light interception performance of a projector during projection using a simple mechanism. SOLUTION: The lens shutter mechanism 3 includes a base 4; an annular gear 5 rotatably attached to the base 4, having an opening 52, and provided with a plurality of guide grooves 51a and 51b formed in the face of the gear, opposite to the base 4, and is also provided with a rack part 53, formed on the peripheral face of the gear; a plurality of fins 6a and 6b having projections fitted in the corresponding guide grooves, with the projections being rotated about a support point on the base 4, while being guided along the guide grooves 51a and 51b in accordance with the gear 5 is rotated; and a drive mechanism 7, having a pinion 71 that makes the gear 5 rotated by engaging with the rack part 53. The plurality of fins 6a and 6b are rotated between an opening position, where the opening 52 of the gear is substantially completely opened by the plurality of fins 6a and 6b, and a closing position where it is effectively completely closed.
