Methods, systems, and computer program products are disclosed for preventing double form submissions at a user agent in a communication network. A form is received from a remote endpoint in the communication network. User input is monitored to detect submission initiation for the received form. In response to detecting submission initiation for the received form, the user agent determines whether a matching previous form submission exists. The determination of whether a matching previous form submission exists is performed by the user agent independent of any scripts received with the form. Submission of the received form is controlled based on the determination of whether a matching previous form submission exists.
