The device comprises a container with inlet and containing at least one revolving clearing arm (5) which moves the chippings located on the flat container base to the discharge unit such as a pump or suction unit (7). The clearing arm is drawn by a traction member (4) and is supported by one flank as a rotatably mounted engagement member. The clearing arm runs round an internal guide (10) on a track and downstream of the bearing (13) has a curved section which matches the curvature of the semi circular ends of the internal guide. Several clearing arms can revolve spaced relative to one another. The semi circular ends of the internal guide are mounted coaxial with the semi circular ends (9) of the track.
