The brake servo has a valve piston (8) constructed in two parts, with a first component (25), and a second component (26) connected in the power flux. The first component of the valve piston is connected with positive locking to a first input member (3), and the second component is axially guided in the region of a reaction element (13). Means are provided to maintain a gap (z2) between the two components of the valve piston in dependence upon the relative movement between the input member and control housing (5), or to enable a taking up or reducing of the gap.
