The present invention has as an object to provide a collagen synthesis accelerator. By employing at least one compound selected from the group consisting of ascorbic acid, ascorbic acid derivatives and salts thereof together with a low molecular weight betaine, the effect on accelerating collagen synthesis is enhanced, whereby the amount of collagen synthesis is significantly increased. Therefore, an excellent composition for accelerating collagen synthesis or collagen synthesis accelerator can be provided.
