The unit comprises a panel (1) with a periphery no larger than that of a conventional hanging file and protruding from the top edge of the plate are two tabs (2) similar to those protruding from a hanging file in order to suspend it from supports. The panel contains one recess (5) or several adjacent recesses which contain a central boss so that they can be used to hold a CD or DVD disc (4), without the disc protruding from the panel surface. The panel can be a plastic one made by injection-molding.
