PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic roller clearance adjusting device of a folding machine for properly automatically adjusting roller clearance, for eliminating inconvenience caused when folding out by folding-down drag rollers in high speed rotation. SOLUTION: In this automatic roller clearance adjusting device of the folding machine of a rotary press, a clearance adjusting means 4 adjusts the roller clearance of a pair of folding-down drag rollers 2 and 3 rotatably supported by a roller support member 10, and is driven by a clearance adjusting driving means 5. A control means 7 controls the clearance adjusting driving means 5 so that the size of the roller clearance for inputting a signal from a roller clearance detecting means 6 for detecting the size of present roller clearance becomes proper roller clearance, by determining the proper roller clearance of the pair of folding-down drag rollers in an operation state of the rotary press on the basis of these signals, by inputting a signal on paper data from an input means 8 for inputting the paper data on the thickness of cutting printing paper 1 for folding in two and a signal on a rotating speed from a speed detecting means 9 for detecting an operation speed of the rotary press.
