PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device performing display by moving liquid, wherein paper white display equivalent to that of white paper and sufficiently deep optical density can be obtained. SOLUTION: A micro tube 4 composed of a transparent resin is three-dimensionally disposed in the nearly entire region corresponding to one pixel of, for example, a square shape on a base plate 1. When a transparent liquid 8 which has been supplied to the nearly whole part in the micro tube 4 is recovered in a tank 6 for the transparent liquid and a colored liquid 7 is supplied to the nearly whole part in the micro tube 4 from a tank 5 for the colored liquid, color display by the color of the colored liquid 7 is performed. In the reverse case, white display is performed. At this time, random scattering of incident light is repeated by difference between the refractive index of the micro tube 4 and the refractive index of the ambient air. As a result, the color of emitted light approaches white and paper white display is performed in the case of white display. And the frequency of absorption is increased, the optical density of the emitted light approaches sufficient deep optical density and high density display is performed, in the case of colored display.
