PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially advantageously producing a thiazole compound represented by formula (3) (wherein, X<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom) by using inexpensive ammonia while reducing the by-production of a compound represented by formula (4) (wherein, X<SP>1</SP>is the same as the above). SOLUTION: The method for producing the thiazole compound represented by formula (3) comprises reacting a compound represented by formula (1) (wherein, X<SP>1</SP>is the same as the above; and X<SP>2</SP>is a halogen atom) with the ammonia and formaldehyde to provide a hexahydrotrizine compound represented by formula (2) (wherein, X<SP>1</SP>is the same as the above), and hydrolyzing the hexahydrotrizine compound represented by formula (2).
