Described herein is a prophylactic garment for use by a human female wearer. The garment includes an elastomeric portion that provides a barrier against sexually-transmitted diseases, having a substantially form fitting segment configured to cover the perineum, each thigh, and. abdomen of the wearer, forming a seal at each thigh opening and the abdomen opening, a tubular segment having an open end integral with the substantially form fitting segment and closed end configured for insertion into the vaginal canal of the wearer, and optionally a tear-resistant perimeter between the form fitting segment and the tubular segment.
