A pair of mating connectors includes a receptacle (400) having an insulative housing (410) and at least one conductive receptacle contact (420) with a pair of spaced walls (422) forming a plug contact receiving space (424). The plug connector (500) has an insulative housing (510) and at least one conductive contact (520) having a projection (526) engageable in the plug receiving space (424) of the receptacle contact (420). The open structure of both the receptacle and plug contacts enhances heat dissipation and allows flexibility in achieving desired contact normal forces. The contact construction is especially useful for electronic power connectors.
