The method for damping of longitudinal oscillations of fluids in vehicle transporting containers (12) entails the feeding of an antiphase control signal to an influencing unit (18) corresponding to an antiphase moment, and influencing a current engine torque or braking torque of an engine and/or brake system (20) by the influencing unit in dependence upon the antiphase moment in such a way that the longitudinal oscillation is damped. An independent claim is included for a device for damping of longitudinal oscillations of fluids in vehicle transporting containers by the aforesaid method.
