A method for counterbalancing of machine parts has the parts hung from flexible supports (13, 14) whose upper ends are wound on pulleys braced by spiral springs (1). The spiral springs are in parallel and have one end secured to a fixed mounting on the support frame, and one end secured to the pulley spindle. The spring can be wound from flat strip and are separated from each other axially by spacer discs. The machine parts can be moved vertically on slopes.
