PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect accurately more number of stages of developer liquid levels than the number of the sensors, without immersing the sensor in the developer liquid. SOLUTION: The device comprises a float part which goes up and down due to a change of a height of the developer liquid level, a plurality of the parts to be detected mounted the float part which is located outside of the developer liquid, the plurality of detection means mounting capable of each detection optically of the plurality of the parts to be detected arranged in the up and down direction of the float part, and a detection control means detecting the height of the developer liquid level from the detected result of the plurality of the detection means. The plurality of the detection means display on-signal when detected corresponding to the part to be detected, if not detected, off-signal is displayed. The plurality of the parts to be detected can be made on-signal on more than two detection means simultaneously, and corresponding to the height of the plurality of the liquid levels which have more number of the plurality of the detection means, the liquid level detection device is provided constituting so as to be capable of the different combinations of on/off-signals on the plurality of the detection means.
