DISPLAY DEVICE AND CIRCUIT CONTAINING SWITCHING POWER CIRCUIT

There are provided a display device and a circuit containing a switching power circuit having an inexpensive and simple circuit configuration for controlling the backlight luminance so as to display with an almost constant brightness and reduce black floating to increase a contrast regardless of that the input signal is analog or digital. The display device includes: a display panel (1); a signal line drive circuit (2) for applying voltage to the signal line of the display panel for performing display drive; and a backlight (5) for illuminating the display panel (1). The display device further includes a luminance control signal generation unit (30) for generating a luminance control signal used for controlling the luminance of the backlight (5) according to a duty ratio of switching of a power unit (8) supplying power voltage to the signal drive circuit (2).
