A system for controlling a vehicle engine and a method of the same are provided to enhance the engine starting and the stop control operated according to the communication between the portable apparatus and the vehicle side unit by comparing the two ID codes. A system for controlling a vehicle engine comprises a portable apparatus(1); and a vehicle side unit(10a) mounted at a vehicle(10) to control the engine according to the communication with the portable apparatus. The vehicle side unit receives the ID code from the portable apparatus, compares the received ID code and the memorized ID code, and allows the engine to be started and stopped according to the starting and stopping commands when the two ID codes agree by responding to one of the starting and stopping commands for starting and stopping the engine. The vehicle side unit contains stall detecting units for detecting the engine stall additionally generated at the stopping command. The vehicle side unit allows the engine to be started regardless of the compared result with ID codes if the starting command is ordered after the stall detecting units detect the engine stall. |
