<p>A biotin-amino acid conjugate, wherein the carboxylic group of biotin and the a-amino group of an amino acid is linked by an amide bond, is biocompatible and has an excellent gelation capability in an aqueous medium. Accordingly, a hydrogel prepared therefrom is useful as a drug delivery system.</p>
