Wall construction comprises a first flat sealing element (16) made from a material which chemically bounds with concrete, physically reacts or swells in the presence of moisture on the concrete surface (11) of a wall element (10) in the region of a joint (15) over the whole edge length and a second flat sealing element (19) also made from a material which chemically bounds with concrete, physically reacts or swells in the presence of moisture on the base plate (12) in the region of an edge surface (18) running parallel to the concrete surface of the wall element. The second sealing element lies on the outer surface (14) of the seal (13). An independent claim is also included for a prefabricated rectangular wall element. Preferred Features: The first sealing element protrudes over the edge of the concrete surface of the wall element next to the joint.
