<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate in which occurrence of peripheral irregularities is suppressed, by suppressing contraction of the polarizing plate. <P>SOLUTION: A polarizing film and a protective film are laminated, and an obtained laminated film is subjected to heating treatment at 60°C to 120°C, in a state where a tension of 60 N/m to 450 N/m is applied. By carrying out such a heat treatment, the polarizing plate, in which the dimensional change ratio prior to and after leaving it standing, for example, at 60°C for 24 hours is in the range of -0.28% and 0%, residual stress of the polarizing film is canceled and contraction is suppressed, can be obtained. Such a polarizing plate, in which the peripheral uneveness is suppressed and which is superior in optical characteristics, is useful to various kinds of image display apparatuses, such as a liquid crystal display apparatus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
