An invention relates to the technology of producing coagulants of purification of natural and wastewater by reprocessing alumina production waste. A process for producing coagulant by method of iron-aluminium-containing material, in which process as iron-aluminium-containing raw material sludge waste of alumina production is used, which do not have qualified use and have the following chemical composition, % by weight: Al2O3 - 11,4; Fe2O3 - 67,4; SiO2 -6,1; TiO2 - 2,9; Na2O - 0,4; CaO - 3,4; S - 0,03; H2O - 8,37, being processed by aqueous solution of one of mineral acids - hydrochloric, sulphuric or orthophosphoric, or mixture thereof at a concentration of 3-85 % by weight, at the temperature of 20+- 3 DEGREE C during 3-72 hours without continuous mixing. The use of invention allows to remake waste into coagulant.
