A plasma display device and an image processing method thereof are provided to secure reliability in white balance and to keep the color balance for the entire gray scales by performing the white balance in real time according to an APL(Average Picture Level) value. A plasma display device includes an APL unit(410) for calculating the APL value of an image signal input from the outside, and a white balance unit(430) for correcting white balance weighted values assigned for R(Red), G(Green), and B(Blue) data of the image signal according to the APL value. The white balance unit assigns off-set according to each gray scale of the R, G, and B data and corrects the off-set assigned to each data.
