An inverter apparatus wherein the breakdown and malfunction (latch-up) of a high withstand voltage IC are prevented. There are included an inverter circuit (3), an inverter driving part (2) and a clamping means (D10). The inverter circuit (3) has a bridge circuit (6) which is connected between the positive and negative polarities of a DC power supply (7) and in which an upper arm part (4), which comprises a reverse-parallel connection of a switching element (T1) and a diode (D1) in an upper arm, is series connected to a lower arm part (5) which comprises a reverse-parallel connection of a switching element (T2) and a diode (D2) in a lower arm. The inverter driving part (2) has a high withstand voltage IC (10) that drives the respective switching elements of the upper and lower arms. The damping means (D10) clamps a difference in potential between a reference power supply terminal for driving the lower arm of the high withstand voltage IC and a high-voltage power supply terminal for driving the higher arm of the high withstand voltage IC. |
