A shock absorbing apparatus of a vehicle installed in a median strip of a road is provided to reduce damage of the vehicle by absorbing shock with moving back and forth a shock absorbing plate with a guide frame, and to prevent a passenger from the vehicle over the median strip by inclining a shutoff plate in inserting the shock absorbing plate into an installation groove. A fixing plate(20) is fastened to an installation groove(13) formed in a median strip body(10), and a guide frame(30) is fastened in the installation groove in front of the fixing plate. A shock absorbing plate(40) is moved along a guide groove(32) formed in the guide frame, and an elastic plate is mounted in the front of the shock absorbing plate. A spring support plate is fixed in a rear part of the shock absorbing plate, and elastically supported. A shutoff plate is installed in an upper part of the median strip body and turned by interlocking with the spring support plate. Shock is absorbed with an elastic plate in bumping the vehicle into the shock absorbing plate, and the shock absorbing plate is elastically supported by a spring and moved backward. The shutoff plate is turned and tilted down in moving the shock absorbing plate backward.
