PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor device and method of manufacturing same capable of preferably securing the environment resistance while improving the productivity even the housing is formed with a plastic resin. SOLUTION: For example, the rotation detection device is constituted of the sensor chip 11 provided with the magnetoresistive element pairs 11a, and 11b; the lead frame 12; bias magnet 14; the plastic resin cap 15; the metal terminals T1-T3 etc.; and the housing 20 formed with the plastic resin housing the structure as the sensor body. When forming the housing 20 with the plastic resin, part of the housing 20 to be formed thick is thinned by insert forming the hollow molding 40 being a dummy component from over the back of the bias magnet 14 to the leading part of the metal terminals T1-T3.
