PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-beam optical distance measuring sensor capable of reducing size and shortening detecting time. SOLUTION: With the multi-beam optical distance measuring sensor, a diffraction grating 4 separates the emission light of a luminous element 2 into a plurality of beams (a) to (e) and a plurality of beams (a) to (e) can be emitted from the diffraction grating 4 even with a single luminous element 2. With the multi-beam optical distance measuring sensor, the number of the luminous element 2 and a luminous side lens 3 can be reduced, luminous side space can be reduced and the size can be reduced compared with the conventional ones. With the distance measuring sensor, it is not necessary to scan a plurality of luminous elements and detection time can be shortened. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
