PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating lettuce facilitating increase in weight of above-ground parts of lettuce in growth promotion of the lettuce without incurring reduction in the commercial value of the lettuce due to unnecessary promotion of elongation of the main stalk part of the lettuce. SOLUTION: The method for cultivating lettuce comprises irradiating the lettuce 6 with light from a light ejection part 2 having LED 21. Blue color in the spectrum of the light ejected from the light ejection part is made superior when the weight increase of the above-ground part of the lettuce 6 is promoted.
