The invention relates to a novel synthetic, standardized, soluble, reproducible and easy to handle prion infectious material that consists of a cultured cellular lysate or supernatant fluid from stable transgenic cells expressing a prion protein PrP and supporting the replication of the pathogenic form PrPsc of said PrP.
