PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for suppressing deterioration caused by the alkali-silica reaction in mortar/concrete using silica-containing aggregate by solving the problem that a silica component incorporated in aggregate in mortar or concrete and an alkali in cement gradually progress alkali-silica reaction under remaining water and absorbed moisture over a long period to produce alkali silica gel having water absorption expansibility to accumulate expansion energy inside a hardened body, and to cause structural destruction when it is impossible to keep the accumulation. SOLUTION: In the method for suppressing deterioration of the mortar/concrete containing silica-containing aggregate, porous aggregate at least having open voids is used as the aggregate in the mortar/concrete.
