The device includes stay bolts (9) on the cylinder head which align with the openings in the flange (2) of the exhaust manifold. The stay bolts support a ball head (6) and are fitted with an eccentric holder (4). A tension cylinder (5) which is mounted rotatable in the eccentric holder has a recess corresponding with the ball head and is cut in some areas so that the ball head can fit into the recess. The tension cylinder has a partially circumferential slot which corresponds with the stay bolt so that the cylinder can be rotated about a certain angle. The recess for the ball head (6) is arranged eccentric in the cylinder so that as the cylinder is rotated the distance between the flange and eccentric holder changes and the flange is pressed against the cylinder head.
